THE MEN
John W. Hall moved to the U.S. from London in
1996. A successful business
consultant in the UK, John came to the states to marry his wife, Karen,
and open a new consulting and corporate training company.
David Brown, a former police captain and now local
business-owner was running a small payroll company in Waco. At that
time, David was a divorced part-time dad, whose work had become his whole
life. David married his wife, Mayette in 2003.
Their paths crossed during a business trade show in
1998. Both men were running their
businesses out of their homes at that time, and within a few weeks, an
office suite became available. The suite was larger than either
business needed so David and John decided to split the cost. This
was the beginning of an adventure that neither of them could have
foreseen.
In a short time, the two became the best of
friends. John’s wife would often call late in the evening to find
him still at the office; not necessarily buried in work, but just talking
with David. On more than one occasion, Karen invited David for
dinner just to get John to come home!
John loved to hunt, and at that time had a deer
lease in Hamilton County. He and David would go there and spend
hours around the campfire - a ritual that has become more and more
important to both of them as time passed.
During the next few years, these two men would
experience many blessings both in their personal and business lives.
There were also trials and hardships along the way; at one point, the two
men had a falling-out, which was not reconciled for the better part of a
year. When a mutual friend brought them back together, they found
that their friendship was even stronger than before. The two men
truly became brothers.

THE MESSAGE
In September of 2003 John and David attended a Wild
at Heart boot camp in Colorado. There, they heard the message of
Jesus in a way that they had never heard it before. John Eldredge
and his team had a fresh, no-nonsense presentation of the scripture that
was both refreshing and eye-opening. At one point, John suggested to
Eldredge that he bring his message to central Texas, to which his response
was, “Our ministry is here in Colorado, if you want it in Texas, then you
take it to Texas.”
Within a few weeks of that challenge, the ministry
was born. Beginning with the first retreat in October of 2003,
Warrior Heart Ministries now offers on average six retreats a year.
Although most of the retreats are held on John’s 241-acre ranch just
outside of Waco, the ministry has conducted retreats at other locations
both here and abroad, from Arizona to South Africa, the ministry has and
will continue to go wherever the message is needed.

THE MISSION
The goal of Warrior Heart Ministries may be summed
up as follows:
-
To wake up men
-
To offer a call to arms and show men their worth
-
To open the eyes of men to the real world around them
-
To get them to stand up and come to life
The retreats
themselves are not so much a revival, but an awakening.
Awake sleeper, arise from the dead and
Christ shall shine upon you.
This scripture is at the heart of Warrior Heart
Ministries - just ask any man, “What do you want? What is your
deepest desire?”
-
I want to be a better husband, father, provider.
-
I want to better understand my wife, my kids.
-
I want to know that I am doing what God wants me
to do.
But perhaps more important than the statements, are
the questions:
-
What is my purpose?
-
Is it important?
-
What should I be doing?
-
What do my boss, my family, and others want,
expect, need from me?
-
What is my worth?
-
What do I have to offer?
Although you will get many different answers, if
you look closely, each answer will be based on two key elements:
Understanding and Validation. We all desire a better understand of
what we are and what is expected of us, but we also need that validation.
What man does not desire to hear from God, “Well done”?
The answer is right here in this scripture:
Awake sleeper, arise from the dead…
Wake up. Just open your eyes and you will see. You will
understand.
…and Christ shall shine upon you. Not
can, not may, but will shine upon you. There is
the validation. Gods smile.

THE MINISTRY
This is not a boys’ club. Even though
Warrior Heart Ministries is a “Men’s Ministry”, a large portion of what is
accomplished is not so much for the man being ministered to, but also for
his wife and his children. Some of the best feedback the ministry
receives comes not from the men who are touched by the ministry, but from
their wives.
Although the ministry’s main event is the retreat,
Warrior Heart Ministries is not a “Retreat Ministry.” The ministry
is much more than a one-weekend, one-time message.
Warrior Heart Ministries is a resource: a
non-denominational refueling station. Throughout the year the
ministry works with Churches, Businesses and other organizations to offer
a variety of services. Here are just a few:
As a resource for a Men’s Ministry
Whether looking to start a men’s ministry or refuel
an existing one, Warrior Heart Ministries can help by offering not only
ideas or advice, but also ‘hands-on’ involvement and step-by-step
assistance in implementing a program. The difference is unlike many
denominational programs of this nature; Warrior Heart Ministries is there
to assist you in implementing your ideas and your
agendas doing as much or as little as you need to get things going.
As a resource for Pastors and Staff
Every man, clergy or layman, needs the fellowship
of other men. They need to be able to talk freely without fear of
repercussion or judgment. As one pastor put it, “…the Church tends
to shoot their wounded.” Thru John and David, Warrior Heart
Ministries offer an outlet for men to be able to share whatever they need
to share. Genuine fellowship and accountability.
In the Business Community
With both men owning businesses and dealing with
Christian as well as non-Christian businessmen on a daily basis.
John and David are committed to putting their ministry first. Not to
cram religion down the throats of non-believers, but to be a bold beacon
for Christianity and minister to the needs of anyone anywhere anytime.
Jesus was not always politically correct, and neither are these guys.
As an Outreach Ministry
From
painting houses to fixing porches. From pushing a stranded
motorist’s car to delivering groceries to a needy family, Warrior Heart
Ministries is dedicated and open to any opportunity for advancing the
kingdom. Let us know how we can help.
